An ICON of Melbourne’s North the Town Hall Broadmeadows has been a fixture in the landscape of Melbourne’s north for more than half a century. In 2019, the venue underwent a multimillion-dollar makeover that has seen it enter a new and exciting chapter as a contemporary space for weddings, corporate, private and community events.
On Friday 4th October, Broadmeadows Town Hall was officially opened by Cr Carly Moore (Mayor of Hume City Council), Domenic Isola (CEO of Hume City Council), and Frank McGuire (MP for Broadmeadows). Construction of the civic redevelopment began late 2017. From the outset, our approach to the 1960s building was about retaining the local cultural history and honouring the original architectural features, while adapting the spaces to be more efficient, functional, flexible and modern.
Daniel Thomas, Senior Project Manager at Light and Sound Solutions Integration, outlines the depth of the involvement in the recent upgrade:
“Light and Sound Solutions is very proud to say that the Broadmeadows Town Hall is one of our flagship projects. The design and product selection meets the aesthetic requirements set out by the architect, whilst also maintaining the sonic quality that the client expects. It is always very difficult to manage the requirement of speaker cabinets needing to be installed into a unique architectural space such as this- but thanks to a fastidious approach by our team, we have been able to achieve fantastic results. In particular, the combination of two white arrays and two black arrays in the same room presented some technical challenges, but the end result looks and sounds fantastic.”
We are delighted to be celebrating this milestone with the Hume City Councillors.
Light and Sound Solutions worked with Building Engineering, Alder Consulting and Hume City Council to deliver the new Town Hall.
